About

Since 1989, Brian Cool, originally a public school educator, has taken part in some heady events while being employed in the sports turf industry. He has had the privilege of shadowing with the San Francisco Giants grounds crew back at Candlestick Park, being named “Groundskeeper of the Year” in the Northwest League, being mentored by George Toma during Spring Training and employed as the assistant to Florida Marlins Spring Training Complex groundskeeper Barney Lopas, who has groomed one of the finest surfaces in MLB with the LA Angels for the past 16 years. He was there in Philadelphia giving the Eagles a NFL caliber practice surface when the Andy Reid era began. Cool enjoyed the 1997 World Series as the Head Groundskeeper of the Florida Marlins Spring Training Complex. More recently, he helped Pacific University (Ore.) receive NCAA Div. II and III Field of the Year accolades in 2010 for their new softball stadium. In 2011, Cool was hired as a construction consultant and quality control specialist by the Forest Grove (Ore.) School District in the recently completed construction of their baseball/softball/soccer complex. Within the past two-and-a-half years, he has been asked by ownership of the Helena Brewers and Bakersfield Blaze to re-build their infields and bullpens, making Milwaukee Brewer and Cincinnati Red player development very happy. It’s his forte and love-of-labor. Time and time again, Cool has taken on challenging and, for the most part, sub-standard playing surfaces and turned them into safe, playable, clean and aesthetically pleasing gems. He would like to do the same for you.
